Innovation time was my favorite part about english class. I loved being able to work on a project once a week in class that I created. For my innovation project I knew I wanted to learn more about digital media and improving my writing. Thats why I decided to write a blog. But then I didn't know what to write about. When we did our march madness brackets I was able to find a topic that I could write about. I decided to write about summer and activities that you could do, so that everyones summer could be fun and exciting!
Innovation time allowed me to further develop my writing and use of digital media, which was awesome! The most meaningful part of my work was threw digital media. Mrs. Mullis was my expert for my project and she taught me how the use of digital media would make my project more appealing and interactive for my readers. After I completed my blog project, I realized that there was still a few months left in the year. I wanted to work on a mini second project, but I wasn't sure what to do in such a short anent of time. I eventually teamed up with Haydin and Kirstin to work on a picnic lunch swap. We all participated in one of these in second grade and thought it would be a fun activity to bring back and also a great way to bring the school together! Our picnic lunch swap happened last week and it was a huge success! It seemed as though everyone had fun and loved interacting with new people from school that they normally wouldn't . Innovation class was one of my favorite parts about my sophomore year! I really hope we have innovation class next year too, because I have already started thinking about what projects I could do next year. I still need to schedule a TED talk, so once I present my project I will leave a link in my blog about my presentation :)

This past week Kirstin, Haydin, and I have been tying up all of the loose ends in our project. We finished having everyone fill out all the lunch swap order forms and we paired people up. We also have got Mary to announce and remind everyone in the morning and at the beginning of the day about the lunch swap. We will be passing out all the order forms to everyone next Monday, so they have time to prepare for the lunch swap. The lunch swap will be next Thursday and we are super excited about it!
Today Kirstin, Haydin, and I were supposed to pair up people for the lunch swap. Since our tennis game went from 4-9 we weren't able to do so. Since people won't be getting the forms back tomorrow we are going to have to move the lunch back to next week. One more week will help us tie up all loose ends in our project, so they the lunch swap can be a major success. Moving the lunch back to next week will also allow us to inform the students about what is going on, so that their is no confusion. We are planning to also ask Mary to remind everyone all week on the morning announcements too so that people won't forget about it. :)
Last week I was finally able to finish making the flyer for the picnic!!! The flyer is very informational and looks great. I have printed copies to hang around school and I also put the flyer in my blog in the tab labeled picnic page. If everything goes as planned, this picnic will be a great way to get our school to participate in a fun activity together! I am very excited for the picnic on August 28th. The last thing I need to do is send out an email to all participating in the picnic. The email will tell them who they need to be making a much for.Last week I was able to finish making my flyer. I will be printing it off once we get back from spring break. The flyer was made to inform people about the picnic that we are having. This project will be a great way of getting all students at St. Philip to interact together. Each student that participates will be given some type of prize.
Last week I worked on my second innovation project. I started making flyer that will be hung around the school. The flyer will remind people when them picnic is and what they need done in order to participate. I have also been working on my other project. The last piece of my project is crating an interactive map. I will be putting a URL to this map on my innovation blog soon.
This week I have been working on an interactive map. This map will show places in Michigan where you can participate in all the activities that I wrote about. The expert for my innovation project, Mrs. Mullis, gave me a lot of ideas and tips for my innovation blog that I will be using later this week.
Last Thursday I met with Mrs. Mullis; the expert for my innovation blog. She gave me a lot of really nice feedback and good ideas to get my blog to where we want it to be. She helped me with different techniques for formatting, using digital media, and ways of getting my blog out to the public. This week I will be working on an interactive map that will show people in Michigan where they can go to do the activities that I wrote in my blog.
This week I've decided that I am going to be finishing the blog that I started at the beginning of the year. I will be writing about 10 things to do with your friends in the summer. After my blog is finished I plan on starting a new project that I talked about in my last blog post. I will be working with two other people on a way to get the school to come together and meet new people. To do this, we are going to organize a school picnic, where each person packs a lunch for someone else and they get to have a fun day! We will also provide dessert for everyone that participates. In order for us to buy the desserts we hope to sponsor a $1 out of dress code day. The picnic will occur at the end of the year, so that we can do it outside in the nice warm weather!!
A couple obstacles came up last week while working on my innovation project with my group. We couldn't find ways to fix them, so we decided to start a new project. Remember in second grade when we had that day where we drew names and whose ever named we picked we packed a picnic lunch for them? Well thats what our new innovation project is going to be! It was so much fun when we were younger and we want to do it again! It will also be a great way for the students to all interact and get to know each other a little better at St. Phil.
